On December 24th, 2022, I was supposed to take a Grayhound home from Montréal so I could visit my sister the next day for Christmas. But the bus never came. The Grayhound station never told us what was going on, so we were all just standing out in the cold or crowding into the station, waiting obliviously. Eventually I heard a guy said he was talking to the driver of another bus who had still not departed, who had told him the buses were cancelled because the highways were badly snowed in. I went inside to wait for an announcement about what’s going to happen, which took even MORE time. (Even if they bus had come at that point, it would’ve still been too late to get to Toronto and catch the second bus home from there.) I ended up calling my father to pick me up and went back to his place and had to buy a new ticket home, and ended up spending Christmas in Montréal at the casino and having pizza instead of with my sister and her in-laws, and getting a ticket home for Boxing Day.
Megabus refunded the tickets, but only after the time when the bus was supposed to have arrived in Toronto, not when they actually cancelled the buses. But they didn’t refund the second ticket from Toronto because it did go. But that’s stupid, yo! Obviously I COULDN’T take the bus FROM Toronto if the one TO Toronto never came. And I didn’t buy two tickets, I purchased a trip from Montréal to home, but they didn’t have a direct bus, so they split it with a layover in Toronto. It’s not my fault the bus didn’t come and the second ticket was useless. 😠
While I was waiting to hear what’s going on, I heard this guy with a French (???) accent who was complaining non-stop and prefacing and suffixing every statement with “yo”. It took all I had to keep it together and not literally laugh out loud. Christmas may have been ruined, but it was worth it. 😂
Yo, merry Christmas to you, whoever you are, yo! 😀
