It is one thing for a generic station to change, but many channels are subject-specific, so changing doesn\u2019t make any sense. In fact when a subject-specific channel changes its subject, it renders the channel\u2019s name meaningless, yet they almost never change their names to reflect their new material. Here\u2019s a few examples:<\/p>\n<style>\n\tacronym {text-decoration:underline; cursor:default;}\n\ttable#channels {border-collapse:collapse;}\n\ttable#channels td {border:solid 1px white;}\n<\/style>\n<table  class=\" table table-hover\" id=\"channels\">\n<tr>\n<th>Channel<\/th>\n<th>Former Subject<\/th>\n<th>Current Subject<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Bravo<\/td>\n<td>High culture programs like operas and <em>Inside the Actor\u2019s Studio<\/em><\/td>\n<td>Inane reality shows like <em>Real Housewives of\u2026 Pretty Much Everywhere<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><acronym title=\"The LEARNING Channel\">TLC<\/acronym><\/td>\n<td>Educational programs like <em>Operation<\/em><\/td>\n<td>Inane reality shows like <em>Here Comes Honey Boo Boo<\/em>, <em>Sister Wives<\/em>, <em>19 Kids and Counting<\/em>, <em>Say Yes to the Dress<\/em>, <em>Rich Bride-Poor Bride<\/em>, <em>Breaking Amish<\/em>, <em>Storage Wars<\/em>, <em>Little People Big-World<\/em>, and so on<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Discovery Channel<\/td>\n<td>Educational programs like <em>Inventions that Shook the World\t<\/em>, <em>Curiosity<\/em>, <em>Cash Cab<\/em>, etc.<\/td>\n<td>Inane reality shows like <em>Deadliest Catch<\/em>, <em>Gold Rush Alaska<\/em>, <em>Moonshiners<\/em>, <em>American Loggers<\/em>, <em>Finding Bigfoot<\/em>, <em>Amish Mafia<\/em>, etc.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>History Channel<\/td>\n<td>Educational programs about history like <em>Museum Secrets<\/em><\/td>\n<td>Inane reality shows like <em>Swamp People<\/em> and <em>Ice Road Truckers<\/em>, and inane non-history (and non-reality \u00ac_\u00ac) shows like <em>Ancient Aliens<\/em><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Space<\/td>\n<td>Science-fiction, horror, and fantasy shows<\/td>\n<td>Anything that is even slightly related even indirectly to the appropriate subject matter like the crime-drama <em>Castle<\/em> simply because it stars Nathan Fillion who was in <em>one<\/em> sci-fi show for a few episodes before it was cancelled<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>It looks like the worst offender is The <strong>Learning<\/strong> Channel.
